The one most people walk in asking for. Black walnut heartwood comes off the saw a deep chocolate brown with purple and gold streaking, and it needs no stain — just oil and it looks like that forever.
$22 to $35 per board foot, depending on width, thickness, and figure. All kiln dried.
Wide single slabs
The reason to buy walnut here rather than at a lumber yard is width. We regularly have single slabs wide enough to make a dining table top without a glue-up seam down the middle. A hundred-plus-year-old tree makes a slab that no plantation walnut can.
Figure
Crotch figure, curl, and burl show up in the wider pieces. Sapwood along the live edge runs pale cream against the dark heart, and whether you keep that contrast or cut it off changes the whole character of the finished piece. Come look before you decide.
Built or raw
Buy the slab and take it home, or have our shop build it — dining tables, conference tables, and epoxy river tops are the pieces we get asked for most. See the studio for finished work.

FIG. 031.QQuestions
Black Walnut, Live Edge — common questions
How much does black walnut cost per board foot in Denver?
Black walnut live edge slabs at Revolve Reclaimed are $22 to $35 per board foot, depending on width, figure, and thickness.
Why is walnut more expensive than other slabs?
Black walnut grows slowly, the heartwood is a deep chocolate brown straight off the saw with no stain needed, and wide old-growth trees are increasingly rare. It is the most requested slab species we carry.
Do you have wide enough walnut for a dining table?
We regularly carry single slabs wide enough for a table without a glue-up. Widths change constantly — call 720-236-0454 before you drive out.
