How a floating bracket works
The bracket body bolts into your studs or masonry. Steel rods project out from it. You drill matching holes into the back of your beam, slide the beam on, and every piece of hardware vanishes. From the room it looks like a beam growing out of the wall.
Pairing a bracket to a beam
Match rod length to beam depth — 4 inch rods for shallower stock, 6 inch for deeper — and choose a bracket span shorter than your finished mantel so nothing peeks out the ends.
