Black Epoxy Walnut Dining Table
One wide Colorado walnut slab, voids filled in black epoxy, finished as a single-slab dining top.

A single wide slab of Colorado black walnut, kiln dried on our rack, with its natural voids and checks filled in black epoxy rather than patched or cut away.
The decision that made it
The slab had a run of voids down one third of its length. The conventional move is to cut past them and lose the width. We filled them in black instead, which reads as intentional and keeps the full slab — including the widest section, which is the part worth having.
Sapwood along the live edge was left pale against the dark heartwood. That contrast is the whole character of the piece and it disappears if you stain the top to even it out.
Finish
Hand-sanded through the grits, oil finish, no film build. The surface still feels like wood rather than plastic, and it can be re-oiled in place years from now without stripping anything.
