Beautifully aged old barnwood. Grey faces, nail holes, saw marks, and the kind of surface that takes fifty years of weather to make. It will make a vivid and textured accent wall or run of wainscoting.

Sold in 20 square foot bundles.

Two thicknesses

¼ inch — the light stuff, for walls. 4in wide bundles are $90, 6in wide bundles are $125. Both in 4 to 6 foot lengths.

1 inch — heavier, for wainscoting and anything you want proud of the surface. 5.25in wide by 8ft, $150 per bundle.

Figuring out how much you need

Every bundle covers 20 square feet. Multiply your wall height by width, add about ten percent for cuts, and divide by 20. A 10 by 8 foot wall is 80 square feet — five bundles.

Installing it

Quarter-inch boards are light enough to go up with construction adhesive and a few brad nails; you do not need to find every stud. The one-inch stock is heavy enough that it should be nailed into framing. Let either one acclimate indoors for a few days first.

FIG. 021.QQuestions

Barnwood Panels — common questions

How much does barnwood cost for an accent wall?

Barnwood at Revolve Reclaimed is sold in 20 square foot bundles. Quarter-inch bundles are $90 for 4in wide boards and $125 for 6in wide. One-inch bundles at 5.25in wide by 8ft are $150.

How many bundles do I need for my wall?

Each bundle covers 20 square feet. Measure your wall height times width, then add about 10 percent for cuts and waste. A 10ft by 8ft wall is 80 square feet, so five bundles.

How do you install barnwood on a wall?

Quarter-inch boards go up with construction adhesive and a few brad nails — light enough that you do not need to hit every stud. The one-inch stock is heavier and should be nailed into studs.

Does barnwood need to be treated before it goes inside?

Ours comes off barns that have been dry for decades. Most people bring it inside, let it acclimate for a few days, and install it as-is. If you want, a light wipe-down is plenty.
